3. Mobile Information and SMS Consent Will Not Be Shared for Marketing

Black Therapy Network does not sell, rent, share, or provide mobile telephone numbers, SMS opt-in information, or SMS consent data to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from any data-sharing arrangements that may otherwise apply to other categories of information.

We may use service providers that assist us in operating our communications systems, such as telecommunications carriers, messaging platforms, and technology vendors. Such providers may process information only as reasonably necessary to provide services on our behalf and are not authorized by BTN to use SMS opt-in information for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Clients and Prospective Clients

  • Responses to inquiries.
  • Intake follow-up.
  • Appointment scheduling.
  • Appointment confirmations and reminders.
  • Cancellations and rescheduling.

  • Other communications concerning services requested from BTN.

Therapists and Providers

  • Therapist or provider applications.
  • Application status.
  • Onboarding.
  • Credentialing.
  • Profile and account information.
  • Referrals and scheduling.
  • Network participation.
  • Service and support communications.

5. Message Frequency and Charges

Message frequency varies depending on your interaction with Black Therapy Network.

Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier and wireless plan. Black Therapy Network does not charge a separate fee to receive SMS messages, although your carrier’s standard messaging and data charges may apply.

6. Your Consent and Choices

Consent to receive SMS messages is voluntary.

Providing SMS consent is not a condition of purchasing or receiving services from Black Therapy Network and is not a condition of applying to or participating in the Black Therapy Network therapist/provider network.

You may withdraw your SMS consent at any time.

Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messages.

After an opt-out request is processed, you will no longer receive messages from the applicable BTN messaging program unless you subsequently provide new consent.

7. Protecting Sensitive Information

SMS communications may not be appropriate for detailed, confidential, or sensitive clinical information. Please avoid sending sensitive health, financial, identification, or other confidential information by text unless BTN has specifically directed you to an appropriate messaging method.

Where appropriate, Black Therapy Network may direct clients to an authorized secure platform or another appropriate communication method.

SMS should not be used to request assistance with an emergency. Contact appropriate emergency services if immediate assistance is required.

8. Information Security

Black Therapy Network uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information under our control.

No electronic transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and mobile carriers and telecommunications networks operate outside BTN’s direct control.

9. Data Retention

We may retain SMS-related records for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide requested services.
  • Maintain consent and opt-out records.
  • Resolve disputes.
  • Protect our legal interests.
  • Meet regulatory, contractual, or legal obligations.

10. Minors

Where SMS communications concern services for a minor, consent must be provided by a parent, legal guardian, or other authorized individual when required by applicable law or BTN policy.
